2 seater leather sofas are ideal for 2 to 3 room HDB flats in Singapore. 3 seater leather sofas or L-shaped leather coaches are perfect for 4 room flats. 4 seater, modular or sectionals are best suited for 5-room flats or larger homes.

Type of leather

The type of leather you choose depends on your needs, lifestyle and budget. 

Full-grain leather sofas, also known as full aniline leather sofas, are ideal if you are looking for durability and natural character. Made from the top layer of the hide, full-grain leather showcases unique grain patterns and is highly long-lasting. It tends to be thicker and firmer compared to other types of leather. (At Grey & Sanders, our full and top grain leather sofas feature the same thickness, offering a perfect balance of comfort and durability.) 

Top-grain leather sofas, also known as semi-aniline leather sofas, are perfect if you prefer a softer, more comfortable seating experience. With a more uniform appearance, top-grain leather blends seamlessly into most interiors and is generally more affordable than full-grain leather, making it a practical choice for stylish and cosy living space. 

Choosing the right leather ensures your sofa is both comfortable and durable, enhancing your living room for years to come. 

Most of our sofas are available in both full-grain and top-grain leather, with a wide variety of colours and textures to suit your interior style.

Known as the highest grade of leather, full-grain leather is a premium leather known for its natural grain and patina. This leather is sourced from the upper grain layer of the hide without further sanding. Hence, full-grain leather is usually thicker, more durable, and resistant to scratches, making it ideal for long-lasting sofas. As time passes, the leather develops a beautiful, darker patina.

Top-grain leather comes in behind full-grain leather as is known for its uniform grain and softer textures. This is because the leather has been sanded. While it is usually slightly less durable than full-grain leather, it is softer, more supple, and comfortable, providing a more inviting seating experience. Top-grain leather is also generally more affordable than full-grain leather.

Aniline leather refers to both full-grain and top-grain leather that has been dyed with premium natural dyes. Unlike coated leather, aniline dye absorbs directly into the leather, preserving its natural texture and patina, making it perfect for premium, luxurious sofas. Here at Grey & Sanders, our sofas are crafted in full or top grain aniline leather, offering a rich palette of colours while highlighting the leather’s beautiful grain and lasting quality.  

Ultimately, both full-grain and top-grain leather sofas age beautifully, softening and developing character over time, offering comfort and beauty that lasts for years.

Over time, leather may naturally develop cracks or start flaking as it loses its natural oils and flexibility. Factors such as sun exposure, humidity and insufficient care can accelerate this process. The quality of the leather also plays a major role in how well it ages. 

At Grey & Sanders, we offer premium genuine top and full-grain leather, which ages gracefully — flaking far less than its synthetic alternatives. To maintain your leather’s supple texture and natural beauty, we recommend conditioning it once a year with a leather conditioner.

Yes, most of our sofa collections are available as 2 seater leather sofas and 3 seater leather sofas, designed to fit perfectly into compact urban homes in Singapore while offering comfort, style and durability.  

The ability to fit your sofa into the lift depends on both the sofa’s dimension and your lift’s measurements. Measure the length, width and height of your sofa as well as the lift door’s height and width. It’s also important to measure the interior depth and height of the lift. For larger sofas, measure the diagonal diagonal clearance inside the lift —  from the bottom corner on one side to the top corner on the opposite side —  to ensure it can be tilted safely. Don’t forget to check the lift’s maximum weight capacity to ensure it can handle the weight of your sofa.  

If your sofa is unable to fit into the lift, our delivery team is able to make the delivery by stairs at a charge of $40 per level. (For deliveries requiring more than two personnel, charges will be quoted separately based on the complexity of the delivery).
