Sofas – The Ultimate Guide

A sofa purchase can be challenging. With so many alternatives and conflicting information accessible, choosing the leather material alone might be difficult. You may be familiar with phrases like "genuine leather," "top grain," and "full grain," which describe leathers made from various areas of an animal's hide. You might have also overheard salespeople talking briefly about how leather is dyed. Leather quality is generally a combination of these elements. You may even prefer a fabric option for your sofa. Or even more shocking, a mixture of both options. Before choosing the best sofa for your home, keep this in mind.

Leather Sofas – Only The Real Deal

Grey & Sanders uses 2 broad categories of leather for our sofas. They are “full grain leather” or “top grain leather”. These two may sound similar but trust me when I say there are similarities between them.

The best leather is full grain leather, which is derived from the hide's top layer. It has obvious natural grains and is both aesthetically stunning and long-lasting. As a result of this, full grain leather always fetches a higher premium compared to its cousin, the top grain leather. Full grain leather has 3 main attractions. First off, because the majority of the strongest fibres are on the top layer, it is incredibly durable. The natural leather grains are also preserved. Finally, as full grain leather matures, it develops a lovely patina that burnishes and enhances its beauty. Patina are spots of sheen and shine that are a result of the leather absorbing natural elements around it — water, moisture, dirt, sunlight, or even natural body oils.

The second-highest quality of leather is typically referred to as top grain leather. To obtain top grain leather, the uppermost layer of the hide is removed. When a hide has too many flaws and faults to be turned into full-grain leather, this is done. Additionally, by doing this, the leather's hardness is diminished, making it simpler to deal with. Top grain is therefore offered in a wider range of hues and finishes.

Fabric Sofas – Much Tougher Than They Look

Undoubtedly, a lot of homeowners worry about the upkeep of fabric couches. It is a common misperception that fabric sofas shred quickly and are challenging to clean after spills. In actuality, high-quality textiles are more durable and most of them have finishes that resist stains. This guarantees that cleaning up a spill is less laborious than you might anticipate. Our fabrics pass demanding durability and quality tests. It has been demonstrated that it can resist regular use, cleaning, and washing without losing its stain-repellent qualities. The materials are also recognized to be child and pet friendly, allaying a lot of concerns for homeowners.

Customisation

Grey & Sanders also allows you, the homeowner, to customise your sofa to your heart’s content. Most of our sofas come in 2-seater and 3-seater options. There are models that also come in 2.5-seater configurations. If you’re looking to make your sofa a standout piece in your living room, why not explore the L-shape sofas to really wow your guests. For those who are a little short on space, our armchairs and ottomans are perfect for you. You also have the choice of choosing your preferred material and colour. The possibilities are near endless.
